Arenal Volcano with Monteverde Option

Since emerging from dormancy in July 1968, The Arenal volcano has been providing daily shows of steaming explosions and nightly ones of glowing lava. It's a spectacular thing to see and there are many viewpoints for the volcano where you can watch the activity or just wait for the clouds to clear so you can get a better view.

There are daily departures from hotels on the Caribbean Coast, San José and most Pacific Beach towns.

You will travel in a comfortable a/c microbus to La Fortuna, a small town next to the volcano. They will take you to your hotel then shortly after take you to the west side of the volcano which is one of the best places for night time views. After that, you will go to Tabacón Resort where you can enjoy the different temperature pools. Tabacón also has water slides, waterfalls and 12 different pools! If you'd like to save a little money, you can choose Baldi Hotsprings instead. Both packages include dinner served with a view of the volcano. (Note: depending on your transportation to Arenal we may substitute a tour which picks you up at your La Fortuna hotel a little later and then reverses the order of the tour: goes straight to the hotsprings then visits the volcano viewpoint afterwards).

The next day, you will be picked up at 8 a.m. to visit the waterfall of La Fortuna by horseback. Your tour ends in Arenal. We can also add additional nights of accommodation in Arenal so you can explore on your own or we can arrange transport on to San Jose, the Pacific Coast or back to the Puerto Viejo area. (If you are leaving early this day, you can elect to skip this tour and we will deduct the cost from your package).

Add Monteverde to Your Package!

Continue your trip from Arenal with a jeep/boat/jeep crossing of Lake Arenal to Monteverde. The trip across Lake Arenal is part of the fun.

We'll bring you to your hotel in Monteverde by lunchtime so you'll have time to explore the area (or you can choose an afternoon departure from Arenal). The Monteverde Cloud Forest is world renowned for its beauty and is an incredible place to stroll the jungle rich with life; maybe you'll even spot the elusive Quetzal, the rare and resplendent bird which is Guatemala's national symbol.

While you're there, you can choose to explore on your own or we'll pick you up for an afternoon canopy and zipline tour.

Transportation to Monteverde and 1 night hotel for only $75 per person. Add the Sky Trek and Sky Tram tour for $65 more.
